Veneers

Veneers are thin porcelain shells, like false fingernails, that are bonded to the outsides of your teeth. They are carefully shaped to fit your teeth and can be used to make your teeth lighter or more even in color, to make your teeth longer and more even, or even to 'straighten' minor rotations or discrepancies in your teeth.

If you have crooked or badly discolored, stained teeth that detract from your smile, porcelain veneers could make a tremendous improvement in your smile by reshaping and whitening your teeth. Veneers are natural in appearance can look beautiful for many years. It usually takes two appointments to complete your veneers.

During the first appointment, the dentist removes a thin layer of enamel, the hard outer layer of the tooth. Then the dentist takes an impression  of your teeth and sends it to a dental lab that specializes in making vemeers, and guides the lab to create veneers that reshape and improve the color of your smile.

At the second appointment, the thin porcelain shells of the veneers will be tried in to make sure they fit perfectly and have created the cosmetic look that the patient wants. The veneers are then bonded or glued to your teeth with a thin layer of bonding plastic. While the porcelain of the veneers themselves are stain resistant, the edges where they meet the teeth are not. To keep them looking beautiful, you may want to avoid coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco as much as possible.
